Grasse, France, November 2nd, 2020
Heyday Integrated Circuits ("Heyday"), the creator of the power-thru technology for gate drivers, today announced the company has been awarded blended finance from the European Innovation Council.
Heyday is one of the 64 startups and SMEs in the first “Green Deal” funding (totaling 307m€) from the European Innovation Council to support the recovery plan for Europe and contributing to the objectives of the European Green Deal Strategy.
This first EIC Green Deal funding specifically concentrates on those innovations that fuel the societal transition towards sustainability while supporting EU’s competitiveness and leadership in clean technologies.
Submitted projects must support the Green Deal implementation by significantly contributing to at least one of the following sustainability goals
Heyday's winning proposal Hey3012: Enabling simpler, cheaper and more efficient energy conversion in power electronics contributes to not less than 3 of these goals.
"It is a great honour to have our project selected for this Green Deal funding. The funding will accelerate development of our power-thru technology for isolated gate drivers into applications using silicon carbide (SiC) FET's." said Joseph Duigan, CEO of Heyday. "Electric mobility is one of the key markets that benefits more and more from using SiC switches, and our gate drivers will significantly add to these benefits in terms of efficiency, simplicity and affordability".
"Heyday's mission is to enable the most efficient and safe power conversion. This Green Deal funding is a major enabler for Heyday to make this mission a reality. It is our expectation that the future benefits to the EU, its citizens and the environment will be more than 100x the awarded Green Deal funding." added Bernard Gouverneur, the Hey3012 project manager
About Heyday Integrated Circuits:
Heyday Integrated Systems is the inventor of the power-thru gate driving technology that is embedded in its gate drivers for use in power conversion modules in a wide range of applications. The power-thru technology allows to have all gate driving functions in one single integrated component. This makes the total power module design significantly simpler while reducing the number of components, the conversion losses, the size of the module and its cost.
